Poor adherence to physiotherapy treatment can negatively impact outcomes and increase the burden on the healthcare system. Learn how the combination of a smartwatch and mobile app can potentially help patients stay on track with their exercises and give clinicians valuable insights into performance.

Presented by:

Reuben Hall is the CEO of MindSea Development, where he leads a team of  designers and developers building digital health applications. He is driven to explore the cross-section of health and technology through his background in user experience design. Reuben’s curiosity led him to host the podcast “Moving Digital Health,” where he interviews industry experts to share their stories and knowledge.

Phil Boyer is a PhD candidate in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the  University of Toronto and the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Sunnybrook Research Institute. He received his Bachelor of Engineering Aerospace and Master of Applied Science Biomedical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa. His professional experience includes the commercialization of medical technologies at a national centre of excellence where he worked with startups and partner institutions to facilitate growth in the Canadian medical device sector. His current PhD research focuses on the intersection of technology and healthcare, using machine learning to derive clinical insights from shoulder pathology patient populations through wearable devices and digital health applications towards improving patient outcomes. He also works with bioethics research partners to investigate the implications of AI-enabled healthcare technology on public policy.
