In today's Diagnostic Imaging (DI) landscape, departments are grappling not only with paper requisitions but also with managing intakes from a variety of referral sources. The introduction of each referral source adds to staff workloads, and traditional methods like faxes still dominate the referral intake process. This has resulted in overwhelmed clerical staff, increased workloads for technologists and radiologists, and a host of additional issues such as data duplication, lost files, and missed appointments becoming commonplace.

We aim to provide valuable insights into transforming your DI department by leveraging process automation, AI and workflows. By implementing processing improvements and technology that seamlessly interoperate with your existing hospital operations and information systems you can navigate referrals through all departments, eliminate data duplication, and ensure swift and efficient processing.

Moreover, we will explore the integration of machine learning and AI capabilities into these processes, enabling the digitization of referrals with automated data capture. This not only verifies the completeness of a referral but also enhances the automation of protocoling, making the entire process more efficient.

Key Learnings:

  • Process Automation is not handled by an eReferral system nor your Hospital Information System. What do we mean by Process Automation.
  • How we can create efficiencies, and what it looks like to alleviate the current stress placed on your clerical and DI teams.
  • What technology solutions look like to help solve these issues.
