Today's healthcare landscape finds patients struggling to navigate multitudes of portals, processes, systems and passwords to gain access to health information. Patients are literally drowning in portal “soup”. This presentation delves into the multifaceted problem of the overwhelming number of patient portals and the proposed solution to mitigate this confusion.

    Sarah Malerby is a Director of Consulting Expertise at CGI, a management consultant specializing in organizational change management.  She has over 25 years of experience working in the health sector leading complex multi-layered projects, strategic planning, continuous improvement initiatives, policy and regulatory review and development, quality assurance and risk management initiatives.  Sarah has a track record of driving successful engagement and collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups across various settings to advance strategic digital transformation initiatives. Sarah is passionate about championing diversity and inclusion of the patient voice and perspective as she works with her clients to address complex challenges in the healthcare system.

    Naomi Brooks is the Senior Executive Director of Health Information Management & Provincial Language Services for Provincial Health Services Authority. She has 28 years of experience working in the health information management health sector space and was most recently the Regional Director for Transcription Services & Health Information Exchange where she provided strategic leadership and was responsible for overseeing contracted and inhouse dictation/transcription services across the four Lower Mainland Health Organizations. Naomi also provided strategic and tactical planning related to Health Information Exchange for HIM and supported the standardization of clinical documentation, business practices and customer support by ensuring work was aligned with broader clinical information strategies and provincial standardization initiatives. Due to new technologies and service model implementation, her portfolio saved 7.9$ million annually and delivered transcribed reports within 2 days. She is now focusing her attention on enabling seamless access to health information to patients and their families in BC.
