Facing growing workforce pressures, our organization took action by piloting patient self-check-in kiosks to enhance data accuracy, reduce staff burnout, and empower patients. Over six months, adoption, staff experience, and workflow dependencies were analyzed. Findings revealed critical insights into digital readiness and change management. Key lessons highlighted the need for clear expectations, staff engagement, and seamless integration with booking processes which are foundational for sustainable, patient-centred digital transformation.

Carina Andreatta is currently the Director of the Project Management Office at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She holds an Honours Specialization in Health Sciences and a Minor in Psychology from Western University and an MSc in eHealth from McMaster University, a Big Data Analytics certification from York University, a PMP certification and is Prosci Change Management Certified.
Marla McGregor is currently a Project Manager of the Project Management Office at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She holds a Honours Bachelor of Life Sciences and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) specialized in Health Services Management from McMaster University. Marla also holds a PMP certification.
