Join our upcoming webinar focused on minimizing downtime risk in Canadian healthcare and meeting Accreditation Canada’s requirements. We’ll discuss why downtime preparedness is now a frontline priority for every hospital and clinic: the risk of system outages and cyber threats is rising, and maintaining seamless patient care—even when technology fails—is essential for both accreditation and safety.

Our experts will explore how Interlace Health’s Digital Downtime Forms and Registration solutions help organizations eliminate the errors and compliance gaps often found with paper-based downtime processes. We’ll highlight key benefits, including instant access to pre-approved forms (even offline), seamless data synchronization back to your EHR, and robust privacy protection aligned with Canadian standards (PHIPA, PIPEDA).
Clients should listen in to understand how adopting digital downtime solutions can boost operational resilience, maintain accreditation, strengthen cybersecurity, and reinforce trust with staff and patients—even during major disruptions. Don’t miss your chance to learn proven strategies and see a live demo to help your organization stay prepared for anything.

What if we approached digital health tools not just as technologies, but as members of our care team? As Canada deepens its commitment to team-based primary care and integrated care delivery, we need digital solutions that do more than store information—they must contribute meaningfully to shared decision-making, communication, and continuity of care. This webinar invites participants to reimagine digital tools as collaborators in the care process: helping clinicians coordinate more effectively, supporting patients and caregivers as empowered team members, and bridging gaps across organizational and sectoral boundaries. Drawing on insights from implementation science and over a decade of research in digital health design, implementation, and evaluation, this webinar explores how we can position digital tools as enablers of trust, shared accountability, and relational care. Participants will learn how to move beyond adoption checklists toward more thoughtful, context-sensitive implementation strategies that treat digital tools as part of the care team—supporting both providers and patients. Through practical examples and frameworks, we’ll explore how to embed these tools into the everyday work of care in ways that are equitable, sustainable, and system-aligned.

      Learning Objectives:

      1. Reframe digital health tools as active partners in team-based and person-centred care.
      2. Apply implementation science principles to guide the co-design, adoption, and scaling of digital innovations across diverse care contexts.
      3. Explore system-level enablers that foster meaningful integration of digital tools across the continuum of care.

This presentation offers an overview of Alberta’s implementation of the Connect Care clinical information system in ambulatory care, with a deliberate focus on the people and processes that enable meaningful digital transformation. Rather than emphasizing technology, the session underscores the pivotal role of governance, strong sponsorship, stakeholder engagement, and visible leadership in navigating complex organizational change. It highlights the value of inclusive stakeholder engagement strategies—such as collaboration with patient advisors and user groups—to ensure solutions are grounded in frontline and patient experience. At the heart of the presentation is a comprehensive change management approach, featuring practical tools like communication frameworks, the importance of end-to-end workflow demonstrations, and patient safety review sessions, all designed to build confidence and readiness. The discussion also outlines tailored launch support models, including superuser networks and both on-site and virtual assistance, reinforcing the principle that true success lies in empowering people through thoughtful change, not just deploying new systems.

                  Learning Objectives

                  1. Explain the importance of governance, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and sponsorship in supporting large-scale digital transformations in healthcare.
                  2. Describe effective stakeholder engagement strategies that ensure system design and implementation reflect the needs of patients and frontline users.
                  3. Identify key change management tools and approaches used to support readiness, adoption, and sustainability during CIS implementations.
                  4. Explore launch support models—including the role of superusers, hybrid assistance approaches and issue escalation frameworks
                  5. Summarize the role of project management in coordinating resources, managing risks, and maintaining alignment across program priorities and timelines.

In this session, we’ll explore how Santé Québec implemented the OrderWise Clinical Decision Support platform by MedCurrent, A VitalHub Company. The objective of the project was to support radiology referrals in primary care across multiple regions to improve efficiency, align with local clinical guidelines, and reduce costs.

                    What you’ll learn:

                    • Provincial roll-out strategy – multi-regional implementation integrated with the provincial Service d'Acheminement de Formulaires Informatisés et suivis de Requêtes (SAFIR) platform.
                    • Clinical content integration – leveraging national, provincial and local radiology referral guidelines from the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) and l’Institut National d’Excellence en Santé et Services Sociaux (INESSS).
                    • Implementation challenges – IT complexity, competing priorities, physician engagement, and French-language adaptation.
                    • Tangible results – improved quality and efficiency of diagnostic pathways; 6% of orders canceled as non-appropriate, saving ~$750K annually per 40,000 referrals.
                    • Lessons learned & path forward – perspectives from Santé Québec and MedCurrent.
                    • National implications – how Québec’s model can inform a pan-Canadian CDS strategy.

Join us to see how digitized, evidence-based diagnostic referrals are transforming patient care and health system performance in Québec—and how your health system can benefit.

Clinicians face growing administrative burdens navigating fragmented systems to connect patients with care. Pathways is an actively curated, one-stop digital directory that includes specialists, health authority programs, community services, and clinical tools. With new AI-powered resource summaries, Pathways reduces unnecessary referrals, improves patient access to care, and delivers cost savings, while easing clinician workload.

                          Learning Objectives:

                          1. Describe how a centralized, actively maintained directory reduces clinician administrative burden and improves patient access.

                          2. Evaluate the role of AI-generated summaries in supporting efficient clinical decision-making at the point of care.

                          3. Identify opportunities to adapt the Pathways model in other jurisdictions or care contexts.

This project is about using point of care ultrasound with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI) to help early screen arthritis (inflammation of the joints) in children. Arthritis is the most common chronic disease in Canada placing a tremendous burden to the health system. From the 6 million Canadians living with arthritis, around 700.000 are in the province of Alberta. It affects 1 in every 1,000 Canadian children. In this disease, the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is almost always the first joint involved. This joint connects the lower jaw to the skull, allowing the mouth to open and close. TMJ arthritis in children can cause devastating facial deformities compromising daily activities such as speaking and chewing. Since there is no cure for the damage caused, it is important to detect and treat this condition early to prevent lifelong jaw problems.

Accessible, cheaper and safer imaging is needed to diagnose and treat TMJ arthritis early to avoid the costs, delays and need for sedation related to MRI images, which is used to diagnose this condition. Ultrasound is safer, more comfortable for children and cheaper for the health system. Not to mention, its portability that allows its use in diverse health care facilities, including rural communities and remote areas. However, the challenge is that US requires significant training and expertise to interpret the images. Therefore, we want to develop an artificial intelligence-assisted image analysis tool to be integrated to a portable handheld ultrasound to help screening TMJ arthritis in children. For this, we will scan the joint of children diagnosed with arthritis in the main children`s hospital of Alberta. These images will then be used to develop the AI assisted image-analysis tool. This innovative tool will overcome existing barriers and improve health by advancing digital health.

She started working with Ultrasound in 2017 during her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, where she investigated the potential of Ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in Dentistry—particularly for assessing jaw joint disorders and the tissues supporting teeth. Dr Almeida was part of a multidisciplinary team that developed an innovative intraoral ultrasound device for chairside diagnostic use in Dentistry. In addition, she has led the development of an AI model to assist in identifying jaw joint disorders in MRI scans. Her work aims to improve the diagnosis process through the integration of emerging technologies in imaging.
